Study Design 


To test the hypotheses that CXCR3 is an important bottleneck controlling gene expression in SARS-infected mice.

Overview of Experiment: 

Groups of 20 week old C57BL/6 or CXCR3 knockout mice will be infected with 10^4 of MA15 or mock infected.  

  • Time points of 2 (N=3), 4 (N=3), and 7 (N=4) days post infection with equivalent numbers of time matched mock animals
  • Viral load, lung pathology, transcriptional and proteomics analyses. 
  • Mice will be weighed every 24 hours to measure general disease progression and any mouse approaching 30% weight loss will be euthanized.

Two RNA samples were not acceptable: 28_SM007_7.1_CXCR3_mock_d2_1 and 33_SM007_8.1_CXCR3_mock_d4_3.
